Vij orders probe into labour welfare Board irregularities
Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij has directed the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to constitute a three-member committee to probe complaints from workers and address registration irregularities.
The committee, which includes Sunil Dhillon (representing workers’ unions), Bhupender Sharma (representing employers), and Joint Secretary AK Deshwal from the department, is expected to submit its findings within three months.
Chairing a Board meeting on Sunday, Vij emphasised the need for transparency and responsiveness in addressing workers’ issues. He also instructed the establishment of help desks at all block levels. “The call centre and help desk should be separate,” he said.
Officials informed the meeting that call centres have already been set up at regional offices in Panchkula, Hisar, and Sonepat.
Vij also directed that, “The fee of workers who have applied for registration in the Board must be refunded if their application is rejected for any reason.”
He further asked for a detailed report on the decisions taken during the Board’s previous meeting.
Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Kumar Bedi, Principal Secretary Rajiv Ranjan, Labour Commissioner Maniram Sharma, and other officials were present during the meeting.
