Three arrested for duping people of cash, jewellery
The Gurugram police have arrested three members of an inter-state gang for stealing jewellery and valuables from people by luring them with their smooth talk. Two motorcycles used in the crime, 48 gems and Rs 12,500 in cash were recovered from their possession.
According to the police, one of the three accused was carrying two rewards of Rs 5,000 each on his head. The police had arrested one of the accused a few days ago and after interrogating him, his two accomplices were arrested in Uttarakhand on Sunday.
According to the police, a woman had gone out for a morning walk in Sohna, where she met a man who claimed to be a devotee of God. He promised to take away her sorrows and meanwhile, another man came and took her jewellery and gave it to another man and then they sent her to pluck leaves from a tree. As soon as she came back, the accused ran away. On the complaint of the woman, an FIR was registered at the Sohna City police station.
During investigation, a crime unit team of Sector 43 arrested one of the accused on April 15 in Udham Singh Nagar. The accused was identified as Khurshid, a native of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The police had taken him on six days’ police remand after they were produced in a city court.
During interrogation, the accused revealed the names of his two accomplices. Following this, Saifuddin and Shahzad were arrested on Sunday.
“The accused, Saifuddin, disclosed one such incident of theft in Rajasthan and another in Rewari. Shahzad and Khurshid have also confessed to committing another incident of fraud in Mumbai. We are questioning the accused,” said a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
