India overtakes Pakistan by miles in terms of nuclear bombs, says US report; India has…, Pakistan lags behind with …
New Delhi: The race for nuclear weapons between India and Pakistan is intensifying. A recent report by American nuclear scientists states that India has now significantly surpassed Pakistan in terms of nuclear bombs. Scientists from the Federation of American Scientists reported that the number of nuclear bombs in India has reached 180, while the number of nuclear bombs in Pakistan remains at 170. There are a total of 9 nuclear-armed countries in the world, which possess 12,331 nuclear bombs. Speaking of China, its number of nuclear bombs has reached 600.
The report titled ‘States of World Nuclear Forces’ states that China and India are rapidly increasing their number of nuclear bombs. Additionally, North Korea, Pakistan, Britain, and Russia are working to enhance their nuclear capabilities. According to recent data, the United States and Russia hold 88 percent of the world’s nuclear bombs. Efforts to reduce the number of nuclear bombs globally have decreased. There has been an increase in the number of warheads once again in the world. The number of nuclear bombs in France and Israel has remained stagnant.
According to reports, there are a total of 12,331 nuclear warheads in the world, of which 9,604 are in military stockpiles to be used in missiles, fighter jets, warships, and submarines. The United States, Russia, Britain, and France have kept 2,100 nuclear bombs on high alert. These bombs can be prepared for an attack in a very short time.
Nuclear-armed countries are preparing to maintain this for the long term rather than reducing it. These countries are continuously modernizing their nuclear arsenals. Speaking of India, until a year ago, its number of nuclear bombs was 174, which has now increased to 180. Meanwhile, Pakistan remains at the figure of 170. India is among the few select countries in the world that is producing both highly enriched uranium (HEU) and weapon-grade plutonium. However, HEU is primarily used in nuclear-powered submarines.
In 2023, an international panel estimated that India has about 680 kilograms of plutonium available for making nuclear bombs. This is sufficient to create 130 to 210 nuclear bombs. India is capable of conducting nuclear attacks through ground, air, and water. While India possesses Agni series nuclear missiles, it also has Mirage fighter jets capable of dropping nuclear bombs. India is developing nuclear submarines that can conduct nuclear attacks under the sea.
