FPH Gallery: A Captivating Showcase Of Cubism, Calligraphy And Abstract Art In Mumbai

Mumbai's vibrant art scene is currently witnessing a captivating trio exhibition that celebrates diverse expressions and distinct voices in contemporary art. Held at the FPH Gallery, this group show brings together the works of Vishwas Kamble, Jayant Dalvi, and Dinkar Kumbhar. These three humble yet immensely talented artists have poured their hearts and stories onto canvas through Cubism, Calligraphy-inspired designs, and Abstract compositions.

Each artist brings a unique visual language to the exhibition, offering a soulful and thought-provoking experience for art lovers.

Vishwas Kamble: Bringing music to life through abstract forms

Vishwas Kamble

With nearly two decades of painting experience, Vishwas Kamble balances his artistic passion with a full-time professional career. For Vishwas, art is more than just technique; it’s a heartfelt interpretation of music and nature.

"I try to bring life to any form of music through my paintings," Vishwas shares. "I try to capture the essence of music on my canvas," he adds.

His works are a symphony of vibrant acrylic strokes, where musical instruments, flowing lines, and natural motifs come together in abstract harmony. The movement and rhythm within each painting evoke the soul of music itself, transforming melodies into colour and form.

Jayant Dalvi: Calligraphy-inspired 3D art

Jayant Dalvi's painting

Despite having an academic background in commerce, Jayant Dalvi followed his childhood passion for painting, transforming it into a lifelong pursuit. His segment of the exhibition is an ode to calligraphy, but with a twist.

"I loved painting since childhood; my love for art always kept me going and pursuing my dreams," he says. "With the help of calligraphy strokes, I have tried to create 3D art. And along with the 3D effect, I have used colour combinations to create immersive art," he explains.

Jayant’s works aren’t literal alphabets or texts; instead, he uses the form and fluidity of calligraphic brushstrokes to build striking shapes, figures, and characters. Through meticulous brushwork using acrylic on canvas and board, his art forms sculptural illusions that challenge perception while celebrating aesthetic depth.

Dinkar Kumbhar: Storytelling through the geometry of Cubism

Dinkar Kumbhar's art

Completing this trio is Dinkar Kumbhar, whose artworks dive into the world of Cubism. His style reconstructs everyday figures and stories through geometric abstraction, using squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles to breathe life into human and symbolic characters.

With a palette that blends both acrylic and oil paints, Dinkar’s works are bold and structural, yet emotionally resonant. Each painting feels like a visual puzzle, where fragmented shapes come together to form a unified whole, challenging the viewer to see beyond surface appearances and discover the character within the structure.
