Bengaluru (Karnataka), April 21: Bengaluru Police issued statement after a disturbing incident in which an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer was severely injured was reported from Bengaluru on Monday (April 21). The police said that it is a clear case of road rage which is common in Bengaluru. The accused in the case has been arrested after the IAF officer shared his photos on social media.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose was allegedly attacked by a biker while on his way to the airport. His wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Das, who is also in the Air Force, was driving the car at the time.

The Bengaluru police have arrested one man identified as Vikas Kumar in connection with the incident. D. Devaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Bengaluru) told ANI that this was a case of road rage and not related to any language or personal targeting.

“This is a clear-cut case of road rage, which is very common in Bengaluru,” said DCP Devaraj. “Both sides could have avoided the fight. When the argument started, 6–7 youngsters tried to stop them and calm things down. The issue began when the biker came from the opposite direction while Madhumita Das was driving. That was the root cause. Then both the officer and the biker got into a physical fight.”

Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more details will be revealed as the case progresses.

The incident took place when the couple was travelling from the DRDO colony in CV Raman Nagar. According to the officer, a man on a bike came from behind and stopped their car.

In a video posted on social media, Wing Commander Bose said that the biker abused him in Kannada and made comments about the DRDO. When Bose got out of the car, the biker allegedly hit him on the forehead with a key, causing him to bleed. The video shows visible injuries on his face and neck.
