Air Force Officer Assaulted, Wife Abused In Bengaluru: 'If Law And Order Doesn't Help Me Then...'
An Indian Air Force officer (IAF) was reportedly physically attacked and verbally abused by a group of Kannada-speaking individuals while he was on his way to the airport along with his wife in Bengaluru. The officer employed as Wing Commander allegedly suffered multiple injuries to his face and head during the attack.
Police have registered a case at Byappanahalli police station following a complaint lodged by Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta, the wife of the victim, as per news agency PTI.
Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose claimed he was physically assaulted and verbally abused in a road rage incident by a group of men on a two-wheeler who followed their vehicle.
Following the incident, the officer shared a video on social media describing the incident. From the video, the officer has been identified as Wing Commander Shiladitya Ghosh, and his wife, Madhumita, who is also employed as Squadron Leader in the IAF, was driving to the airport from the DRDO colony in CV Raman Nagar to the Bengaluru airport.
In the video, the officer said, "Today morning, my wife was driving me to the Airport. Suddenly, a bike came from behind and stopped in between the way, and the guy started abusing me in Kannada. Then, seeing the DRDO sticker on my car, they said 'You DRDO people', and they stated several things in Kannada and abused my wife and I couldn't bear it. The moment I got out of my car, the biker immediately took his key and hit me with a key on my forehead, and as a result, blood began coming out of my head."
"I stood there, shouting, 'This is how you defend people whom we defend you, treating someone like this from the army, air force, and navy'. Surprisingly, more people came and started abusing us, saying that we are doing wrong. The man picked up a stone and tried to hit my car. When I tried to stop him, he hit me on my head... this is my condition," the officer added.
No Formal Complaint Has Been Filed
"Thankfully, my wife was there to take me out and we went to the police station to file a complaint, but presently there is no response from there," he also said.
"This is what Karnataka has become, seeing the truth, the reality of the main heartland of Karnataka...I couldn't believe it. God help us. God gives me the power not to retaliate. Tomorrow, if law and order don't help us, I will retaliate, then these people will have it," the officer further added.
While authorities have yet to officially pinpoint the location, Bose mentioned the incident took place while they were traveling from CV Raman Nagar to the airport.
In a follow-up video, Bose shared that he was en route to Kolkata to see his ailing father, calling the attack a "shocking" experience that left a lasting emotional impact on him and his family.
