VIDEO: 4 Arrested From Solapur For Beating Pune Restaurant Owner To Death Over Property Dispute

Pune Police on Monday arrested four individuals from Madha taluka in Solapur district for beating a restaurant owner to death with cricket stumps and bamboo sticks over an old property dispute, officials said.

The accused have been identified as Amol Sakore (40, resident of Santosh Nagar, Katraj), Maruti Kiwale (35, resident of Navi Vasahat, Katraj), Girish Babare (26, resident of Santosh Nagar, Katraj) and Yogesh Dore (35, resident of Khopde Nagar, Katraj), they added.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Shubham Subhash Chavan (26), a resident of the Om Sai Mitra Mandal area of Santosh Nagar, who owned a restaurant in the same area.

"On Sunday morning, around 3:45am, Chavan was going for some work and was passing through the Santosh Nagar area when Sakore, the prime accused, and the three others intercepted him. They started abusing and thrashing him. Chavan tried to escape, but the accused began hitting him with cricket stumps and bamboo sticks. Chavan was brutally injured. The accused left him bleeding on the road. Later, locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead," said the police.

An investigation was launched with two teams each from the crime branch and the local police station probing the matter from all angles. The police later got a tip-off that the accused were in Kamati Khurd village in Madha taluka of Solapur district. The Pune Police officials then went to the spot and, using technical evidence, found their exact location and nabbed them.

The accused have been brought to Pune and have been booked under sections 103, 3(5), 115(2), 351(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Ambegaon Police Station.
