Volkswagen Golf GTI Launching in India This May – Specs, Features & More

Volkswagen is all set to enter India’s premium performance hatchback space with the upcoming launch of the Golf GST, expected to take place in May. This will be the first time the GTI badge will officially arrives in the county, bringing with it a strong legacy of sporty driving dynamics. The car will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU under the government’s 2,500-unit homologation-free import scheme, which allows select models to be sold without additional testing.

Powering the Volkswagen Golf GTI is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that delivers an impressive 260bhp and 370Nm of torque, helping the car go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. The hot hatch is likely to be priced from Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be offered in a choice of four striking colours including dual-tone finishes like Moonstone Grey and Kings Red Premium Metallic.

The interior of the Volkswagen Golf GTI strikes a fine balance between classic charm and modern-day comfort. While the signature seats, red contrast stitching, and flat bottom steering wheel reflect car’s sporty legacy, the overall design is lifted by premium textures, brushed metal inserts, and customisable ambient lighting.

On the tech front, the GTI is expected to be well-equipped with a large 12.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display.
