There are several Bollywood actors who once ruled the industry, but unfortunately fell trap into the state of oblivion. While many, when disappear from the filmy world, struggle with finances. However, there are some who despite quitting the world of glamour is living quite a luxurious life. Today, we will talk about one such actor, who hasn’t signed any film in the past 22 years, but still earning huge amount of money due to his sharp business acumen.

He is none other Sanjay Khan. In 1964, the actor made his Bollywood debut in Rajshri film Dosti, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature in Hindi. Later, he starred in a series of hit movies including Dus Lakh, Ek Phool Do Mali, Intaquam and more. In 80s, he shifted his focus on television, directing and starring in a big-budget historical TV drama The Sword of Tipu Sultan. It was his last acting project and after that, he directed and produced several other popular television shows including The Great Maratha, 1857 Kranti and Jai Hanuman.

After distancing himself from films, Sanjay ventured into business and started export dealing in rice and transporting it to Middle Eastern countries. In 1997, he launched his dream project ‘five-star deluxe Golden Palms Hotel and Spa’ in Bangalore, which was designed by his wife Zarine Khan. Apart from this, he also started his own real estate firm named Essk Properties and built a park, which was worth Rs 1000 crore. However, the project was closed due to some intricacies. According to reports, Sanjay’s estimated net worth stands at $50 million (around Rs 417 crore).

Born in a Muslim family as Shah Abbas Ali Khan, Sanjay considers himself as a ‘Hanuman Bhakt’. According to a report by NDTV, when he was hospitalised for 13 months, a priest from Hanuman temple prayed for his recovery, following which he got deeply devoted towards Lord Hanuman. The whole experience left a lasting impact on Sanjay, and inspired him to make a TV show ‘Jai Hanuman’,  based on mythological stories of Lord Hanuman.
