Bank Holiday: Are Banks Open Or Closed On April 21? Find Out HERE
After multiple holidays for banks last week, bank employees should gear up for a busy workweek ahead. The holiday calendar for banks is published annually by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
This calendar features national holidays, regional celebrations, special occasions, and weekend leaves. Typically, banks remain closed across the country on second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays.
Customers should always check this official calendar to schedule their banking errands. However, sometimes the regulator issues last minute changes to the working schedule of banks. Therefore, it is wise to keep in touch with your local bank branch to avoid any inconvenience.
Are Banks Open Or Closed On April 21?
According to the RBI's bank holiday calendar, banks will remain closed on Monday only in Tripura as the state celebrates the Garia Puja festival. As per the official holiday schedule, this regional celebration warrants a full public holiday, meaning that all banking institutions—public and private—will not operate within the state today. However, banks in the remaining parts of the country will continue to operate as usual.
Digital Banking Still Available
While in-person services at branches will not be accessible, banking customers need not worry about essential financial operations. Services such as ATMs, mobile banking, UPI transactions, and other digital platforms will continue to function as usual unless a specific bank has pre-announced system maintenance.

More Bank Holidays Ahead Before April Ends
The month of April still has a few holidays left. In addition to the routine fourth Saturday and Sunday on April 26 and 27, banks in several parts of the country will observe additional state-specific holidays. For instance, Tuesday, April 29, marks Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Jayanti, prompting bank closures. The following day, April 30, will see banks in Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and other states shut for Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya.
