Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's latest film, Kesari Chapter 2, seems to be benefitting from the positive word of mouth as it witnessed a sharp rise in its box office numbers over the weekend. On Sunday, the film's third day, Kesari Chapter 2 saw a 30 per cent jump in numbers.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kesari Chapter 2 minted a whopping Rs 12.25 crore on its third day. The film, which released on April 18, had started off on a slower note with Rs 7.75 crore on its first day, however, with positive reviews, it made Rs 9.75 crore on its second day.

The total box office collection of Kesari Chapter 2 now stands at Rs 29.75 crore. With the strong word of mouth and positive reviews, the film is expected to end its first week with Rs 50 crore in its kitty.

Kesari Chapter 2 is based on the aftermath of the horrific Jallianwala Bagh massacre that took place in 1919. Thousands of innocent Indians were killed as the British decided to open fire at a peaceful gathering in Amritsar.

The film shows the story of barrister C Sankaran Nair, played by Akshay Kumar, and how he had sued the Crown for genocide and had proven British officer General Dyer guilty of killing the innocents, despite the British government doing everything in their might to cover the incident up.

The film also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles, and they too have been receiving rave reviews for their performance just like Akshay.
