Khattar praises Constitution for granting equal rights to all
Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar emphasised on the importance of unity and equality as protected in the Constitution, calling upon every section of society to move forward with dignity and collective effort. He was speaking as a chief guest at a Samvidhan Samman Samaroh held at Haibatpur village in Nilokheri Assembly segment on Saturday evening.
Paying floral tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue, Khattar said the Modi government had carried forward Baba Saheb’s vision over the past 10 years by working on the principle of Antyodaya — uplifting the last person in the queue.
Khattar underlined that the Indian Constitution, authored by Dr Ambedkar, was among the finest in the world, and any amendments made by the BJP were for the welfare of the people — unlike the opposition, which used amendments for political gains. He also criticised the opposition for never honouring Dr Ambedkar and falsely campaigning that the Constitution and reservations would be abolished.
The Union Minister said on the occasion of Dr BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Haryana and made significant announcements. On April 14, the PM inaugurated the first airport of the state and laid the foundation stone for an 800 MW thermal plant in Yamunanagar. Khattar further highlighted that the state government had followed Dr Ambedkar’s principles by ensuring equal opportunities for all, without any corruption or favouritism. He mentioned the “Parivar Pehchan Patra” (Family identity card) initiative, which was being discussed nationwide as an example of transparency and efficiency. This programme had facilitated easy access to benefits, providing youth with employment opportunities and promoting reservations in promotions, he said. Additionally, the government was offering a five per cent benefit in merit-based cut off to ensure fairness and inclusivity, he said.
While interacting with mediapersons, Khattar, when asked about Congress protesting outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) offices, said, “The Congress finds itself in a situation where a cornered cat scratches the pole. The wrongdoings and misconduct during their rule are now coming to the light. They may try to protest or create distractions, but the law will take its course.”
Earlier, during the event, Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and Cabinet Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi and other prominent leaders addressed the gathering and highlighted the contribution of Dr BR Ambedkar.
