CM responsible if anything happens to Amritpal, says father on further detention
Fearing for the life of Amritpal Singh, Khadoor Sahib MP and pro-Khalistan leader, his father Tarsem Singh today stated that if anything happens to him, only Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his AAP-led government in the state would be solely responsible for it.
Addressing media persons here on Sunday, he pointed out that it was a deep conspiracy to isolate Amritpal Singh at Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam by invoking fresh detention under the National Security Act (NSA) while releasing all his other associates after expiry of their detention period (under NSA) and later bringing them back to Punjab.
“Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De), strongly condemns this and we believe that there is danger to his life there. If any mishap happens with Amritpal, only Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government would be responsible for this,” he said.
Terming the extension of NSA detention of Amritpal as a clear violation of democratic, religious and social ideals enshrined in the Indian Constitution, he warned of strong agitation over the autocratic attitude of the Punjab government while alleging that it has been playing into the hands of the Central Government. He said the Mann government was baffled over the enormous support which Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) received during the recent religious congregation at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib on April 13.
He said while Punjab was burning because of poor law and order situation, the Chief Minister was dancing on stages which showed his indifferent attitude towards the problems concerning the state.
