NCB seizes 80 lakh habit-forming tablets
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Amritsar Zone, has reportedly seized over 80 lakh habit-forming drugs near Bawana in Delhi and arrested the firm owner Kaushik, a resident of Delhi.
He was allegedly trying to flee the country when he was held at the Delhi airport recently as a look-out circular had been issued by the agency against him, sources said.
He was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here on Saturday which sent him to four-day police remand. The seizure was made following investigations into the seizure of intoxicants in Amritsar in November and December. Sources in the NCB here said till now, the bureau had arrested over six persons in the racket.
“The seizure in Bawana was the biggest in the case so far, though continuous seizures were being made during the five-month-long investigations,” said sources.
The sources said Kaushik was a distributor initially, but later opened a firm in Delhi. However, his licence was cancelled by the authorities over allegations of pilferage of the habit-forming drugs. He later opened another firm in Himachal after procuring a licence by allegedly misrepresenting facts. The sources said he opened another agency in Delhi and was diverting drugs to Punjab and UP.
