Abhinav registers easy victory in tennis

Abhinav Sangra defeated Romair Singh Barham 6-1 6-0 in the boys’ U-18 final qualifying round on the second day of the CLTA-AITA National Series Tennis Tournament.

Chandigarh’s Pragun Thakur ousted Vedant Sharma 6-2 6-2, while Vivaan Bidasaria ousted Abhinav Bisht 6-1 6-1. Yashvardhan Singh also moved into the next round by defeating Yug Mahi 7-6(4) 6-2 and Anuj Pal outplayed Rushil Bakshi 6-2 6-1. Shaurya Sharma moved into the main draw by defeating Prabhroop Singh Kalsi 6-3 7-6(4) and Heet Kandoriya of Gujarat outplayed Aarav Bishnoi 6-2 6-4. Dev Shaileshkumar Nandasana won the last match by defeating Sankalp Sachdeva 6-0 6-1.

In the girls’ U-18 event, Avni Uttam faced a tough resistance from Ajenika Puri before recording a 6-7(4) 6-2 10-7 win, while Ditti Prajapat outplayed Ashveen Kaur Pardal 6-1 6-2.

Earlier, Abhinav Sangra defeated Prabhsaran Lakra 6-0 6-2 in the boys’ U-18 singles qualifying second round. Pragun Thakur defeated Raghav Singh 6-1 6-3, Vedant Sharma ousted Jahaan Jolly 6-4 6-1 and Vivaan Bidasaria defeated Avi Agarwal 7-5 3-6 10-7. Abhinav Bisht also moved into the next round by defeating Vrishin Awasthi 6-1 7-6 (5), and Yashvardhan Singh faced a tough resistance from Hardit Singh before logging a 7-6 (4) 1-6 10-7 victory. Yug Mahi also moved into the next round by defeating Satyam Dadwal 6-2 6-2. In the girls’ U-18 category, Mahika Khanna defeated Sanya Dwivedi 6-0 6-0 and Tamanna Walia ousted Rabiah Dullet 6-2 6-1. Ranjhana Sangram also moved into the next round by defeating Harsvi Tank 6-0 6-1 and Avika Yadav defeated Kritika Sharma 6-1 6-3.
