Delhi BJP backs ‘one nation, one poll’ initiative, calls it national necessity

Senior BJP leaders in Delhi on Sunday threw their weight behind the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, calling it a vital step towards building a developed and resource-efficient India. The statement came during a key meeting at the Delhi BJP office, which was addressed by BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal and attended by top state leaders, including Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.

The meeting also saw participation from state general secretary (organisation) Pawan Rana, MPs Yogendra Chandolia and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay and Delhi government ministers Pankaj Singh and Ravindra Inderraj, among others.

Sachdeva said, “One Nation, One Election is the need of the hour. Frequent elections have hindered India’s progress over the years, and it is time to adopt a synchronised electoral system that can save time, money and resources.”

He cited figures from previous elections to underline the strain on manpower and logistics. “In the last Lok Sabha elections, nearly one crore personnel were deployed. Repeated elections also mean repeated enforcement of MCC, which stalls development work,” Sachdeva added.

During the meeting, Bansal provided strategic guidance on how to expand the campaign and take it to the grassroots level. Sachdeva said the party would now launch a city-wide awareness drive in Delhi to inform people about the benefits of the policy.

“This campaign will reach every household in Delhi. We will engage with the public to explain how synchronised elections can reduce administrative burdens” he said.
