Cop ‘Slaps’ Woman During Vehicle Check Drive; FIR Registered, Two Cops Line Attached
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A head constable of Awadhpuri police station has been line attached after a woman alleged that the cop ‘misbehaved and slapped’ her during a vehicle checking drive. Another cop, who shot the video of the incident, has also been line attached.
A case has been registered against the head constable at Mahila Thana after the woman approached senior police officials and lodged a complaint.
TI at Mahila Thana Anjana Dubey said the cops were checking vehicles in Awadhpuri area on Thursday during which a 33-year-old woman riding a scooty without a helmet was intercepted. The woman had an altercation with head constable Atul Choukse over fine for not wearing a helmet. The woman alleged that head constable Choukse misbehaved and slapped her while another constable Jitendra shot a video of the incident, TI added.
The woman returned after other policemen intervened. The woman claimed that she made a complaint against Choukse at Awadhpuri police station but to no avail. Instead, a case for obstructing government work was registered against her.
The woman then approached senior police officials. Following investigations, an FIR was registered against head constable Atul Choukse on Saturday night while the role of his colleague Jitendra is under scanner. The duo has been attached to police lines.
