VIDEO: Sanjay Raut Backs Uddhav Thackeray’s Positive Response To Reunion With Cousin Raj Thackeray; Chhagan Bhujbal Welcomes Potential Alliance

Mumbai: In a significant political development that could reshape Maharashtra’s political landscape, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has backed Uddhav Thackeray's positive response to the possibility of reuniting with his estranged cousin and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray. Raut emphasized that the proposed collaboration is purely in the interest of the state, with no conditions attached.

“Uddhav Thackeray has responded positively, and that response too is in the interest of Maharashtra. There are no terms or conditions in this matter. If two prominent leaders, who are also brothers, are coming together for the betterment of the state, then there is no need for much debate. I fully support this view,” Raut stated.

The speculation of a reunion between the Thackeray cousins gained traction recently when Raj Thackeray extended a gesture of reconciliation in a public interview, which Uddhav Thackeray reciprocated warmly. The development has sparked widespread discussion in political circles.

Raut further added, “This is not about conditions, it’s about public sentiment. The idea is to prioritize Maharashtra’s interests and not align with those who oppose it. I have worked with both Balasaheb Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, and I’ve seen them closely. The foundation of Shiv Sena was laid for the cause of Maharashtra and the Marathi people. If people are ready to work together again for that same cause, we welcome them wholeheartedly.”

Senior NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Chhagan Bhujbal also welcomed the potential alliance, recalling the time when Raj Thackeray had left Shiv Sena. “When I heard about Raj leaving the party, I had called both Raj and Uddhav and urged them to hold off for a few days. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out then. But now, if they come together, no one will be happier than me,” he said.

Bhujbal emphasized that even though he is in a different political party today, his love for Shiv Sena remains intact. “If the family reunites, it will be a great thing. Each can continue with their politics, but united they can do good work for the people,” he added.

When asked whether the Thackeray brothers’ reunion could impact Maharashtra politics, Bhujbal confidently said, “Of course, it will have an effect. The strength of Shiv Sena will grow. Even when we gain two workers, we feel stronger—these are leaders. Their coming together will undoubtedly have a significant political impact.”
