Farmers to confront AAP leaders at public events

Farmers associated with the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) today gathered at four places in the district to question four Cabinet ministers and MLAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the use of police force against protesters at the Haryana borders recently.

The union members reached Vallah to grill MLA Jivan Jyot Kaur, who was there to attend an event at a government school.

They also had planned to confront Cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh ETO at Dharar village, Majitha constituency in charge Jagga Majithia at Pandher Kalan village and Cabinet minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal at Khatrai.

KMSC general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher said the AAP leaders, Cabinet ministers and MLAs were not ready to listen to the farmers. “At each of these places, police personnel were deployed in a large number to ensure that the farmers are not able to come close to the leaders. Why are the MLAs feeling threatened by people who have voted for them,” he asked.

Pandher said, “We wanted to ask the AAP leaders why the government used force on peaceful protesters at the Haryana borders. We wanted to know if we cannot hold protest in our state, where should we go.”

The KMSC leaders stated that the union would continue to reach all places where leaders of the ruling party were scheduled to attend inauguration events.

The union stated that their fight for legal guarantee for the minimum support price of crops would continue.
