Meet actor who made his debut with Priyanka Chopra, worked with Shah Rukh Khan, never became successful, his father is one of Bollywood’s biggest…, his name is..
In the world of glitz and glamour, when stardom runs in the family, many star kids embrace that and follow their parents’ footsteps. However, only a few times will you witness that there are star kids who choose a different path or just enjoy a life without the spotlight. A similar story is about this star kid who is the son of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors. However, despite making a life in the industry, the star kid has slowly distanced himself from the spotlight.
If you are wondering who we are talking about, the actor is the son of Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak — Vivaan Shah. Vivaan made his debut with Priyanka Chopra in 7 Khoon Maaf. Despite all that, the star kid has only done 8 movies in his career span.
Though 7 Khoon Maaf was considered a flop, Vivaan’s luck shined when he featured with Shah Rukh Khan in his film Happy New Year. The movie was a huge hit. Apart from SRK and Shah, the movie included some of the biggest names of Bollywood such as Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, and Jackie Shroff.
Coming back to Vivaan Shah, the actor belongs to one of the most respectable families of Bollywood, where his father Naseeruddin Shah and mother Ratna Pathak are ace actors in the industry and are known for their performances.
While acting is one thing that runs in the family, you will be surprised to know that Vivaan didn’t grow up wanting to become an actor. In his early days, he refrained from the world of glitz and glamour. In one of his interviews with Indian Express, he said, “I stumbled into acting as a profession, it was never planned.” He further explained that he thought his career would be purely based on academics, stating that “there, it was not fashionable to say you wanted to be an actor.”
As per Vivaan, he thought that acting was not even in his cards until Vishal Bhardwaj invited him to audition for his film 7 Khoon Maaf. “Being a huge fan of his, I agreed. It was on set, witnessing the filmmaking process, that I had an epiphany — cinema plays a crucial role in Indian society, and I was lucky to be part of it,” he said.
In Vivaan’s second film Happy New Year, his character played a key role alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, and Jackie Shroff.
He told DNA, “My father is Farah’s biggest fan in the film industry. It’s a blessing that I got the opportunity to work with her. I consider myself extremely lucky and fortunate. I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life. I believe my father will be very proud and happy with my performance in the film.”
Over the years, Vivaan featured in only 8 films and his recent release Inn Galiyon Mein released on 14 March 2025.
