Kesari Chapter 2 Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar’s Courtroom Drama Beats Sunny Deol Starrer Jaat

After much anticipation, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, the sequel based on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, hit theatres on April 18. Starring Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar alongside Ananya Panday, the film had a modest start at the box office, collecting approximately Rs 7.5 crore on Day 1, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.

Kesari Chapter 2 Worldwide Box Office Collection

While the opening is lower compared to some of Akshay Kumar’s previous blockbusters, fans are hopeful the film will gain momentum over the weekend. Among Akshay’s highest-grossing films, ‘Housefull 4’ remains the leader with a staggering Rs 210 crore Hindi net collection, setting a high benchmark for ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ to chase. However, strong overseas reception also played a key role in lifting its overall day one performance, helping the film post a fair global total despite the slow domestic beginning.

‘Kesari Chapter 2’ registered a net opening of Rs 7.75 crore in India, with a gross of Rs 9.25 crore. The film also performed reasonably well in international markets, collecting Rs 5.75 crore overseas. This brings its total worldwide box office collection on Day 1 to Rs 15 crore.

With this, the Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan starrer managed to outperform Sunny Deol’s mass-action drama Jaat, which debuted last week with Rs 13.50 crore globally. However, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ still trails behind Akshay’s previous release, ‘Sky Force’, which had a stronger start with over Rs 20 crore worldwide on its opening day back in January.
