Sanju Samson Injury Update Ahead Of RR vs LSG IPL 2025 Match
Rajasthan Royals (RR), led by Sanju Samson, have had a disappointing run so far in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Out of the seven matches played, the team has managed to win only two, leaving them with just four points on the table.
Their latest setback came in a nail-biting Super Over loss to Delhi Capitals, and with the playoffs slowly slipping out of reach, every match ahead is crucial.
To make matters worse, uncertainty looms over the availability of captain Sanju Samson ahead of their next clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday.
Sanju Samson's availability in doubt
Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that Samson is undergoing medical evaluation and is waiting for scan results.
“Sanju felt a bit of pain in his stomach, so we’ve gone for scans. He underwent some tests today, and we’re waiting for the results. Once we get more clarity, we’ll make a decision based on the severity of the injury,” Dravid said.

How Samson's injury occurred
The injury occurred during Rajasthan's chase against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Samson was looking in great touch and had scored 31 off 19 balls.
However, during the sixth over while attacking spinner Viparaj Nigam, he felt a strain in his ribs after hitting a four and a six off consecutive deliveries. Attempting another big shot on the third ball, he appeared in discomfort.
The physio was called in, and though Samson initially continued batting after receiving treatment and medication, he retired hurt after facing just one more delivery. His absence could prove costly for the Royals as they look to bounce back and stay in the race for the playoffs.
