Change in route of public transport buses irks residents of 5 villages
Thousands of residents from several villages in Hansi sub-division of Hisar district comprising Dhani Kumharan, Moth Karnail, Pali, Majra, Moth Rangdan, Garhi Agima, Lohari and Dhani Brahman, have expressed resentment over the recent changes in the public transport bus routes that provide services to their villages.
The residents’ complaint is that the new routes have made it difficult to reach Hansi, forcing them to take longer and more challenging paths. This change has caused considerable inconvenience, especially for students, working professionals and elderly people.
The village panchayats and activists from the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), including sarpanch Sunil Kumar and Deepak Verma, stated that the earlier bus routes provided direct and shorter access to Hansi.
With the changes, students are unable to reach colleges, ITIs, and coaching centres on time and villagers are facing losses of time, energy and money, they said.
The new routes have led to serious disruptions in students’ academic routines and difficulties in accessing government offices, hospitals and workplaces, they said, adding that daily wage workers and government employees are also not able to reach their destinations in time.
The villagers and panchayat representatives have demanded the immediate restoration of the old bus routes. They have also asked for an increase in the number of buses and improved transportation facilities across rural Haryana. They maintain that the introduction of new buses could also help create employment opportunities.
Sarpanch Sunil from Moth Rangdan village warned that if the bus routes, which have existed for over 50 years, are not restored promptly, they will initiate a joint protest involving all five villages and student organisations. A memorandum was submitted to the Roadways official concerned in Hansi and demanded resolution of their problem within two days.
