Narco-terror module: Rural police recover hand grenade, heroin

Following the interrogation of Baljinder Singh, an associate of Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, the Amritsar Rural Police have confiscated a hand grenade along with 186 gm of heroin from his residence at Macchiwala village. Happy Passia was arrested by US agencies on Friday.

Baljinder along with his accomplice Palwinder Singh was arrested by the Amritsar Rural Police on April 11 with a Glock pistol, two bullets and a magazine. During interrogation, Palwinder Singh disclosed to have concealed a pistol in the Mand area of Ghonewal Dhusi village. While extracting the weapon, he allegedly shot at the police team members of which had a narrow escape. In retaliatory firing, Palwinder sustained a bullet injury in the leg. At that time, the police seized a pistol and 523 gm of heroin.

Amritsar (Rural) SSP Maninder Singh said on disclosure of Baljinder Singh, the police today seized a hand grenade and 186 gm of contraband from his residence. The hand grenade was safely neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Squad, he said.

“Both the accused were part of the narco-terror module linked to US-based gangster-turned terrorist Happy Passia who was also arrested by US agencies today. They were in direct contact with Passian after their return from Armenia and were planning targeted attacks in Punjab,” revealed the SSP. He said the police have averted major attacks that they were planning to commit in future.
