Cong chief dares BJP councillors to resign

Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee president HS Lucky today challenged the sincerity of the BJP councillors in opposing the arbitrary increase in property tax.

Lucky dared the BJP councillors to publicly announce the time, location and the name of the official to whom they would submit their resignations. He said the Senior Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayor and councillors of the Congress would reach the spot before the BJP councillors to express their commitment to the cause and solidarity with the residents.

Condemning the Chandigarh Administration’s decision to put yet another financial burden on the residents, Lucky accused the BJP of working in collusion with the UT to exploit the residents.

“At a time when people are already struggling with inflation and unemployment, this new and arbitrary hike in property tax is a direct assault on the common man,” he said.

“The BJP boasts of its ‘double engine’ government. However, they have completely failed to safeguard the interests of the people of Chandigarh,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Congress announced a massive protest against the property tax hike at Mani Majra on Sunday.
