Ukraine claimed that the two videos showed how its soldiers targeted Russian attack units consisting of armoured vehicles and bikers in Pokrovsk on April 17, Thursday. The attack was led by the 14th National Guard Brigade “Chervona Kalyna” which left at least 240 Russian soldiers dead or wounded, it said. The enemy also suffered huge equipment damage as at least 96 motorcycles, 21 armoured combat vehicles, and two artillery systems were destroyed in the attack.
Two Russian infantry divisions were involved in the offensive that was foiled by the 14th National Guard Brigade, Kyiv claimed.
The viral videos were reportedly released on Telegram by Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko. Vehicles were repeatedly hit by explosives and attack drones until they were completely destroyed while survivors were forced to lay down to take cover, the videos showed. One solider was seen waving a white flag while on the ground in an effort to save his life.

THE WEEK couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the two videos released by Ukraine. Moscow was yet to respond to the claim during the time of compiling this report.
Russia has been deploying its "Disposable Storm Troopers" on motorbikes in Donetsk for swifter attacks. Such offensives on dirtbikes are effective against artillery fire from Ukrainian posts, Moscow found out. These bike-borne soldiers are expected to breakthrough enemy lines and launch quick strikes, giving the opposition's drones and machine gunners lesser than normal time to react. However, if spotted from far away, the motorbikers are an easy target for the defenders and hence the name "disposable."
