West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh, 60, to marry party colleague Rinku Majumdar, proposal was made by…, reason behind this …

Kolkata: Dilip Ghosh, the former West Bengal BJP president, is set to tie the knot on Friday, 18 April 2025 evening. Sixty-year-old Ghosh 60 marry Rinku Majumdar, a party colleague, whom he has known since 2021. This was confirmed by the people close to them who added that they two met during morning walks, and the relationship grew over time.

Dilip Ghosh has been a member of the RSS since his youth, and has served it in various roles across the country before getting active in the BJP in 2015.

Ghosh, as the West Bengal BJP president, is credited with establishing the BJP as the main opposition party in West Bengal, replacing the CPI(M).

“My mother wanted me to get married, so to honour her wish, I am tying the knot. I will continue to be in active politics as I was before. My personal life will have no impact on my political work,” Ghosh told a news channel.

The couple will tie the knot at an intimate ceremony in New Town, with close relatives in attendance. Senior BJP leaders, including the party’s state president Sukanta Majumdar, visited Ghosh’s residence in New Town in the morning to wish him.

It was learnt that the marriage proposal was given by the bride’s side.

Talking about the relationship with Ghosh, Rinku said, “Since 2013, I’ve been associated with the BJP organizationally. When he was an MLA-MP, I never spoke to him. At that time, I worked at the block level. We first spoke just before the 2021 elections at Eco Park, very casually. During this Lok Sabha election, we spoke a bit more. Very ordinary interactions, nothing beyond that.

“Around mid-September, when I was thinking about settling down, I proposed to him. My conditions were: it has to be someone within New Town, and he must accept my political career. While thinking through all this, he came to mind. He is the most eligible bachelor in my constituency. He’s not like the usual political figures. He’s a very good person, very honest, strong. I really liked these qualities and thought, why not propose to him?”

Rinku, when asked if Dilip Ghosh accepted her proposal right away, denied, stating that he did not show interest initially and spoke to his mother before giving an answer, as reported by news18.com.

“No… no… no. He took some time. I had asked him. Initially, he didn’t show interest. Then he took three months, spoke to his mother. After that, he informed me,” she said, reports news18.com.

“In September, when I was thinking about my future, I started thinking about the right kind of person. While searching, I couldn’t think of anyone. But when I started matching my standards, I saw that he’s also in politics like me, a bachelor, a resident of New Town, and he would have to let me continue in politics,” said Rinku, recalling how their acquaintance turned into a relationship.

“It was during an IPL match earlier this month, which Dilip Ghosh and his would-be wife attended, that they decided to get married,” a BJP leader close to them said.

While Ghosh has been a bachelor, this is Majumdar’s second marriage, and she has a son.

The marriage will be solemnised in a simple Vedic ceremony at his residence in Kolkata on Friday, April 18.

On the political front, Ghosh, is expected to play a crucial role in next year’s assembly polls in the state.
