Ex-TTD Chairman Karunakar Reddy Booked Over Remarks On Tirupati Cow 'Deaths'
Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman and senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader B Karunakar Reddy has been booked by the Tirupati police following his claims about mass cow deaths at the SV Goshala. The move comes after a complaint was lodged by TTD board member Bhanuprakash Reddy.
Karunakar Reddy had recently alleged that over 100 cows died at the temple-run cowshed due to negligence, sparking outrage and triggering protests by YSRCP leaders. However, TTD officials have denied the claims, terming them baseless and misleading.
Tirupati Gaushala Remark Row: Police Take Action
Ramayya, SV University police station, Circle Inspector said, as per ANI, "A case has been filed against former TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy at the SV University Police Station. TTD board member Bhanu Prakash Reddy lodged a complaint, alleging that Bhumana spread false information about the SV Goshala. Following the complaint, a case was registered under sections 353(1) and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, and Section 74 of the IT Act."
Based on Bhanuprakash Reddy’s complaint, the SV University Police registered a case against Karunakar Reddy under Sections 353(1) and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 74 of the Information Technology Act.

On Thursday, the controversy escalated when YSRCP members, including Tirupati MP M Gurumoorthy, were reportedly barred by police from entering the Goshala premises. In response, the leaders staged a sit-in protest, with Karunakar Reddy lying on the road to express his dissent.
Meanwhile, the TDP hit back, accusing the opposition of politicising a sensitive religious issue and attempting to stir unrest among devotees.
