Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani had a dream when she was a child, wanted to build a…, now that dream has turned into reality, its name is…
Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is one of those beautiful and rich-in-culture places in Mumbai, where people can experience its various offerings, including the Art House, the Grand Theatre, and the Studio Theatre. It was the dream project of business tycoon and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani. The design process for the NMACC started in 2012, and the main construction was almost completed when the pandemic in 2020 caused delays. Finally, in 2023, the NMACC was made open to the public. Prominent personalities from the country and the world gathered during its three-day opening ceremony.
Though the opening of NMACC happened in 2023, do you know that when Nita was hardly six years old, she dreamt of opening a similar place one day? The centre has world-class infrastructure and aims to provide a global platform for Indian art.
When the NMACC was opened to the public, Nita in her speech said that it was a dream come true moment for her. She said, “Art is like a sadhana and a penance for me… When I was just six years old, I decided to learn Bharatnatyam. This art has increased my confidence and it has played an important role in wherever I am today.”
In her statement, she further added that she wanted people across the globe to recognise Indian art and culture, and since she was 6, she wanted to open a beautiful cultural centre to showcase India’s hidden talents.
NMACC Different Parts
Built with all the extravagant facilities, NMACC is divided into five parts. The cultural centre is located in the Jio World Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. As per Nita, the centre is an inclusive space for artists and audiences, as well as dreamers and creators. It consists of five parts. Take a look here.
First Part
The first part of NMACC is The Grand Theatre, where there is a magnificent and state-of-the-art stage where cultural programs happen. The theatre can accommodate 2000 people. It has been given a grand look using more than 8500 Swarovski crystals, and 18 diamond boxes have been made in it.
Second Part
NMACC’s second part is the Studio Theatre, which is a 250-seater mini auditorium. The area is prepared for small cultural events. It has a mini stage that looks different in glowing light.
Third Part
The next at NMACC is an intimate cube-shaped space. Only 125 people can be accommodated in this area. The place is designed for workshops and seminars.
Fourth Part
At NMACC, the fourth part is a four-storied Art House which is spread over 16,000 sq. ft. This area was inaugurated by Mukesh Ambani’s mother and late Dhirubhai Ambani’s wife, Kokilaben Ambani.
Fifth Part
The fifth part in NMACC is the outer area. The musical fountain installed here attracts the attention of the people visiting. This fountain, designed on the theme of fire, water, sound, and light, gives a different experience to those coming to NMACC.
