MSEDCL Sees ₹1,318 Crore Revenue Boost In Latur, Nanded After Crackdown On Power Theft And Push For Online Bill Payments
The Divisional office of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has recorded an increase in revenue of Rs 1,318 crore in the Latur and Nanded circle due to new electricity connections, control over power pilferage, and awareness among consumers for online bill payment.
Under the guidance of the then joint managing director Rahul Gupta, several changes were made in the working system of the divisional office since he acquired the charge on February 20, 2024. The initiatives like new electricity connections, measures to stop power pilferage, and online bill payment gained momentum in the Marathwada region. The ambitious Pradhan Mantri Suryagarh scheme was implemented, and stress was laid on recovery of the outstanding electricity bills with the consumers.
In the financial year 2024-25, the revenue of Rs 10,465.6 crore was collected, which is a record. Last year, 1,25,000 new electricity connections were provided. In all, 1,53,75,432 consumers paid Rs 9,913 crore online. Severe measures were taken against power thefts and recovery of the outstanding electricity bills. As a result, a record Rs 1,318 crore increase in revenue was reported, the MSEDCL sources said.
