Constable, prisoner killed in ambush on police  van in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

PESHAWAR, Apr 18:  A police constable and an under-trial prisoner were killed on Friday when terrorists ambushed a police van in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said.
The attack occurred in the jurisdiction of Chaudwan Police Station in Dera Ismail Khan district.
The van was ambushed while transporting a prisoner to court for a scheduled hearing, police said, adding that the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chaudwan Police Station narrowly escaped the assassination attempt.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed concern over the attack and demanded a detailed report from senior officials. He prayed for patience and strength for the bereaved family, and swift recovery of those injured in the incident.
Kundi criticised the provincial government, attributing the incident to what he called “criminal negligence” in maintaining law and order. (PTI)
