Campus notes: Alumni Meet 2025

PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Jalandhar Cantt, hosted the much-awaited Alumni Meet-2025. The event commenced with batch-pinning, followed by the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Principal Ravinder Kumar warmly greeted the dignitaries and alumni, highlighting the significance of staying connected with one’s alma mater. The audience enjoyed a soulful musical performance by music teacher Amogh and students, followed by an experience-sharing segment where the alumni fondly recalled memories and spoke about the school’s impact on their lives. A souvenir was presented as a token of appreciation to the attending alumni, followed by an inspiring address by Dr Jaswant Minhas, former principal, who encouraged the alumni to stay connected. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by senior teacher Manjeet Kaur.

Farewell party at HMV

Jalandhar: A farewell party, “Launching stars into the sky-2025” for students of humanities, science and skills was organised in the premises of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof Sareen described the students as “stars ready to be launched into the sky by HMV”, symbolising their readiness to shine brightly in the world with the values, knowledge and experience nurtured during their time at the college. The students presented cultural items and showcased their dexterity through dance, bhangra and poetry recitation. A modelling competition was also held. From among the UG participants, Kanupriya Sharma was selected as Ms Fresher of HMV 2025 while Kriti Atwal and Sushila Kumari got the title of the first and second runners-up, respectively. From PG classes, Mandeep Kaur was chosen as Ms Farewell of HMV 2025, while Ekta and Jaspreet Kaur were given the title of the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Excursion to Jang-e-Azadi Memorial

Jalandhar: Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus organised a one-day excursion to Jang-e-Azadi Memorial in Kartarpur, for students of B.Tech second and sixth semester students. The students explored various galleries, exhibits and audio-visual presentations showcasing the role of Punjab in India’s independence movement. Faculty members accompanied the students, providing valuable insights into historical events and encouraging discussions. The trip was a rewarding experience that helped the students develop a greater sense of world heritage and a deeper comprehension of Indian history. Sukhbir Singh Chatha, Director, Academic Affairs, and Dr RS. Deol, Director, LKCTC, encouraged the students and praised the committee’s efforts in planning these kind of visits.

School celebrates silver jubilee

Jalandhar: Emm Aar International School, Adampur, celebrated the completion of 25 years of its inception. The milestone event was dedicated to founder, Late Lala Mast Ram Tandon, who laid the foundation stone of the institution in 2001. A special assembly was organised to mark the occasion by Manik House under the able leadership of House Master Rupinder. The stage was gracefully compered by Manpreet of Class XII and Nanika of Class XI, who carried the proceedings with confidence and enthusiasm, adding charm and energy to the event. Navneet Kaur of Class X delivered a speech. A special moment of the event was the honouring of senior staff members—Kamal Thakur, Narinder Kumar, Sulinder Singh and Jasvir Kaur—who have been part of the school since its inception. President Dr Tandon and Principal Rajinder Kumar reflected on the school’s inspiring journey over the past 25 years, highlighting key milestones and expressing gratitude to all who contributed to its success.

‘One Nation, One Election’

Kapurthala: Hindu Kanya College organised a seminar on ‘One Nation, One Election’ under the aegis of its Electoral Literacy Club. The seminar aimed to bring significant change in the country’s electoral process, making it more efficient and cost-effective. The keynote speakers of the session were Ranjit Singh Khojewal, district president of BJP, Kapurthala, and Yagya Dutt Airi, senior BJP leader. Tilak Raj Aggarwal, president, College Managing Committee, presided over the event. Khojewal advocated the concept of ‘One Nation, One Election’ and encouraged students to support it. Dr Kulwinder Kaur, Head, PG Department of Hindi, expressed her gratitude to the speakers and dignitaries. College Principal Dr Archna Garg appreciated the efforts of the Electoral Literacy Club.

Pandit Vijay Shankar Mishra’s lecture

Amritsar: A special lecture was organised as part of the ‘Gyan Amrit’ series at Guru Nanak Dev University, chaired by Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Head of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. The renowned Tabla virtuoso from the Banaras Gharana, Pandit Vijay Shankar Mishra, was the featured speaker. Pandit Mishra, hailing from a family with a 300-year legacy in Tabla music, is the son of Late Gama Ji Maharaj and grandson of the legendary Tabla maestro Bikaku Ji Maharaj. His talk, entitled ‘Many Aspects of Music,’ was followed by a lively Q&A session with students. Dr. Gavish Rai conducted the event, and Pandit Vijay Shankar also interacted with the students and research scholars in attendance.
