As per the latest update of the route alignment of the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC) in Ghaziabad, the construction of a corridor on the outer side of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) has been finalised which will provide better connectivity better Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Noida. The Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor will go from Palwal in Haryana to Sonipat and would cover Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sonipat, Faridabad.
The EORC project can be seen as an extension of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, whose total length is 135 km. UP has 87 km while Haryana will have 48 km of its share.
A total of 15 stations are proposed in the corridor. Out of which 9 will be in UP and 6 in Haryana. In UP, New Khekhra Road, Baragaon, Manauli, New Dasna, Sukhanapur, Rajatpur, Shamsuddinpur, Bisaich and Gunpura are included. While the stations in Haryana are Malha Mazara, Jatheri, Bhaira Bakipur, Chhayansa, Jawan and Fatehpur Biloch.
According to media reports, the maximum speed of passenger trains on the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor will be 160 kmph and the maximum speed of freight trains will be 100 kmph.
Its construction will reduce the pressure of road and rail traffic in Delhi NCR and will be linked with many logistics hubs of Haryana and UP.
It will also be linked to Jewar Airport. For this, there is a plan to lay a new railway track of 98.8 KM from Chola to Rundhi. Its DPR is being prepared. There is a plan to connect it between Chola and Dankaur.
Along with Jewar Airport, the EORC corridor will be given connectivity to the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor near Duhai. This will make it easier to go to Haryana.
