Panchkula MC Commissioner exhorts resident bodies to keep city clean
In a major step towards transforming Panchkula into a cleaner, greener and more livable city, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aparajita held a meeting with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to reinforce the importance of citizen participation in the city’s cleanliness initiatives.
Accompanied by Joint Commissioner Simranjit Kaur, Executive Engineers Harish and Pramod, and Chief Sanitary Inspector Avinash, the Commissioner engaged with RWA representatives to gather on-ground feedback and offer insights into ongoing civic programmes. The meeting focused on waste segregation, curbing public littering, eliminating single-use plastics, improving public toilets, and managing stray and pet dogs in residential sectors.
RWAs voiced concerns about illegal dump yards, polythene use in markets, litter spread by vendors, and pet dog-related issues. The Commissioner responded proactively, stating that daily waste clearance is being enforced, and stricter penalties will be imposed on offenders. She also announced the launch of the “Spic-n-Span” campaign from May 1, aimed at enhancing cleanliness and civic responsibility.
Aparajita emphasised, “Public participation is crucial for the city’s cleanliness. With the cooperation of RWAs, we can achieve better results in this area.”
