Union Secy reviews status of schemes for women, children
Anil Malik, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, along with a team of officers visited Chandigarh today to review the implementation of key schemes and inspect various initiatives undertaken by the Women and Child Development Department.
A comprehensive review meeting was held, where the status of various schemes under the Ministry of Women and Child Development was discussed in detail with officials of the UT Administration. During the meeting, review/feedback was taken from officials of the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh.
The visit focussed on assessing implementation and integration of technology in social schemes, further serving as a valuable opportunity and significant step towards evaluating on-ground status and ensuring effective coordination between the ministry and Administration for better delivery of Women and Child Development programmes.
The delegation began their visit from a model anganwadi centre at Dadu Majra, where they interacted with anganwadi workers and beneficiaries.
An initiation of complementary feeding was organised during the visit and growth monitoring of children done by anganwadi workers was checked by the delegates.
The team also reviewed the use of the Poshan tracker and implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana with direct feedback from frontline workers. In addition, the officers visited the millets stall and another one displaying indigenous toys prepared by anganwadi workers.
Following this, the officials visited the observation home and place of safety in Sector 25, where they inspected the facilities and interacted with the staff to assess the support system available for children in conflict with law. The Secretary also visited ‘Hunar ki Udaan’ stall to see the handicraft items prepared by children.
