Gurugram: Rs 2.25 lakh fine imposed on 9 bulk waste generators
The Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG), has intensified efforts against the bulk waste generators (BWGs) that do not manage the waste on their own, ignoring the mandatory provisions laid down under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.
Sharing details, MCG Commissioner Garg said a fine of Rs 2.25 lakh had been imposed on nine such BWGs on Thursday.
He said the Inspectors of the MCG’s BWG Monitoring Cell were taking action against all such generators in their respective zones that were not managing the waste in their respective areas on their own.
The teams have imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on all of them.
The Inspectors conducted surprise inspections and found that they were not complying with the Solid Waste Management Rules. “Neither the waste was being segregated nor was it being disposed of properly,” Garg said.
A warning has also been issued by the MCG to these erring BWGs to make arrangements for waste management as soon as possible otherwise legal action could be taken against them.
