Aamir Khan gears up for big screen comeback with 'Sitaare Zameen Par'

After a brief hiatus from acting, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is ready to return to the silver screen with his latest film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. The R.S. Prasanna-directorial is slated to hit the screens on June 20, 2025, as per a Pinkvilla report.
“Aamir is looking to capitalise on the open run in the month of June. Initially, he was contemplating to arrive on May 30, but a June 20 release is giving him a two-week clear run at the box office,” explained a source close to the developments, to Pinkvilla.
With a title closely resembling 'Taare Zameen Par', Amir Khan's indie blockbuster from 2007, the new film is expected to be a sequel, of sorts, and revolve around the same themes of compassion and equality that made the original a wonderful watch. 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which also features Darsheel Safary (the lead in 'Taare Zameen Par') and Genelia Deshmukh, sees Aamir Khan play an alcoholic coach who mentors a team of specially-abled children, guiding them towards their dream of competing in the Paralympics.
“Aamir strongly believes in the content of Sitaare Zameen Par, as it rides on his formula of laughter-emotion-drama. He was looking for a good window and has found one with a June 20 release. The entire marketing plan of this social dramedy is locked,” the source said.
The source also added that Aamir Khan's current plan, subject to possible last-minute changes, was to release the trailer for the film (in theatres) in conjunction with the release of Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Raid 2', scheduled to release on May 1.
“The idea is to communicate the date directly to the cinema-going audience, and Raid 2 is a film which is expected to do well at the box office,” the source clarified.
Following the lackluster box office performance of his last film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', the actor has a lot of hopes riding on 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. However, his slate is anything but empty, as the actor is currently in talks to star in a comedy film with Rajkumar Santoshi and a superhero film by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He is also expected to lock his next directorial after the release of 'Sitaare Zameen Par', and is also producing Sunny Deol-starrer 'Lahore: 1947', scheduled to arrive later in 2025.
