‘Mere Papa Se Gaadi Maang Rahe The’: 2 Brides Send Back Wedding Procession After Grooms Demand Car As Dowry In UP’s Hathras (VIDEO)

Hathras (Uttar Pradesh), April 17: In a shocking incident, two sisters called off marriage after dispute over car demanded in dowry on the day of wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. There are reports that the bride sisters returned the wedding procession after which a fight erupted between both the sides. The bides and their family claimed that the grooms and their family members demanded a car in dowry in the middle of the marriage rituals.

There are reports that the incident occurred in Samadpur village in Hathras on April 14. The brides who have been identified as Shivani and Bharti are the residents of the same village which is located in the Sadabad Tehsil. The brides who have been identified as Mohit and Narayan, they both are also brothers and stay in nearby Tajpur village.

The families ended up at the police station after a fierce fight erupted at the marriage venue over dowry demand. The police said that the marriage was scheduled on April 14 and the grooms had already reached the spot with the procession. However, the girls refused to marry them after they demanded a car along with the dowry which was already given to them.

A video has surfaced on social media in which one of the brides is allegedly claiming that they had given Rs 6 lakh cash and other household items to the grooms. They started pressuring them for a car in dowry. The matter escalated after an argument erupted between both the parties. The bride claimed that the grooms' side of the family beat them and their family members after which they called off the wedding.

They told media that they do not want to marry them anymore. They also said that they beat their father, brother and even their uncle. They also alleged that they misbehaved with them after the heated argument over dowry. The matter reached the local women's police station where the brides' family gave a written complaint of assault and unlawful dowry demand against the grooms and their family members.

The police said that a complaint has been registered in connection with the matter and legal action will be taken against the accused after the investigation is completed.
