ED Raids Bengaluru Dog Breeder’s Home Over Suspicion Of Rs 50 Cr FEMA Violation: Here's What Happened Next
A dramatic social media claim has landed a Bengaluru-based dog breeder in legal trouble. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday raided the residence of a man identified as Satish, after he allegedly claimed to have purchased the “world’s most expensive dog” for a staggering Rs 50 crore.
The raid was conducted on suspicion of violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to officials, Satish’s high-profile claim raised red flags, particularly since no corresponding financial transaction was found in his bank records. This has led authorities to investigate whether the alleged payment was made through illegal channels, including the possible use of hawala networks.
Initial inquiries into Satish’s finances revealed no transaction even remotely close to the claimed amount. “The claim of paying Rs 50 crore for a dog appears to be misleading. Our investigation so far does not show any such transfer from official accounts,” an ED source said.
ED Revelations
Interestingly, the story took another twist when officials inspected the dog in question. Contrary to the breeder’s social media claims of having imported a rare foreign breed, preliminary findings suggest the animal is likely a local or Indian breed.
Sources familiar with the investigation say Satish admitted during questioning that his statements were exaggerated. Authorities are now probing whether the claims were part of a deliberate attempt to create hype or mislead the public.
The ED has not officially confirmed whether any charges will be filed but the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the episode has triggered widespread reactions online with many questioning the credibility of extravagant social media claims and the need for regulatory scrutiny.
