Former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy Lies On Road In Protest Over 'Tirupati Cow Death'
Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman and YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has been holding a dramatic protest on the streets of Tirupati on Wednesday, lying down in public to express outrage after police allegedly denied him access to the TTD-run Gaushala. The protest comes amid serious allegations placed by him over the reported deaths of over 100 native breed cows in the past three months at the TTD Gaushala, which TTD had denied.
The Controversy
Last week, Reddy levelled accusations against the current Andhra Pradesh government and TTD officials, claiming widespread neglect and cover-up. “Over 100 cows have died in the TTD gaushala in just 3 months. This is a shocking and heartbreaking tragedy...this has been neglected by the coalition govt led by CM N Chandrababu Naidu and Dy CM Pawan Kalyan,” he told ANI.
“Despite their claims of upholding Sanatana Dharma, no postmortem was done, and an unqualified officer was appointed to manage the gaushala...I demand a probe and call upon Hindu leaders to hold this govt accountable,” Reddy said, demanding an official investigation into the alleged negligence.
However, the TTD has firmly denied the allegations, dismissing them as part of a “malicious campaign.” In a statement released on Wednesday, the TTD said: “The rumours being spread on social media by a few individuals about recent cow deaths at the TTD Gaushala are completely false. The photos of deceased cows being circulated are not related to the TTD Gaushala. With malicious intent, a few individuals are sharing these unrelated images and falsely claiming they are from the TTD Gaushala in an attempt to hurt the sentiments of devotees.”
The statement further urged the public and devotees to disregard what it termed as “false propaganda”.
