Is The New Skoda Kodiaq A Luxury Alternative To A Fortuner?
Is the new gen Kodiaq a more luxurious alternative to a Fortuner? Well, the new Kodiaq builds on the previous one's strengths with more tech and luxury while a turbo petrol powertrain remains. It gives the vibes of a much more expensive luxury SUV and that's the key appeal over the Fortuner. The new Kodiaq looks more sleek than the boxier earlier gen while looking larger while it actually is. Styling is more modern and there is less visual bulk with a more modern look. Build quality is tough while the new Kodiaq has a more restrained appeal. Inside, things have turned modern and yes, there is a massive new touchscreen but some of the thoughtful features are what sets it apart.

The door edge protectors, practical storage bits and more. Quality is nearly the same as a 70 lakh SUV and it feels big on the inside. Space is better now although the third row remains cramped for adults. You will like the quality of materials though and features like a 3-zone climate control system, Cognac leather, ventilated seats, tablet holder for rear-seat passengers etc. Speaking of the seats there are the Ergo seats with massage function while there are sunblinds, 9 airbags and a 13-speaker audio system. It is then a more luxurious alternative to a Fortuner while the 2.0l turbo petrol with 190hp and 320Nm along with a 7-speed DSG make it a comfortable but brisk SUV.

There is no diesel unlike other SUVs though. There are two variants meanwhile- Sportline and L&K with the L&K being a natural fit here despite being more expensive at Rs 48.6 lakh. While being much more expensive now (over rivals too), the Kodiaq is all about a luxury SUV for less price when compared to the German luxury brands and that is the highlight.
