Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has sold his Seattle mansion for $63 million, setting a new record for the most expensive home ever sold in Washington state. The 9,420-square-foot property, located in the elite Hunts Point area, was purchased by Cayan Investments LLC, as reported by the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Bezos acquired it in 2019 for $37.5 million after his divorce from MacKenzie Scott. The sale gave him a profit of over $25 million.

The is spread on 3.27 acres in the Hunts Point neighborhood, in Washington, just seven miles from Amazon’s headquarters and also from other tech companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Google. The average home price in the area is $8 million, however Seattle’s housing market boom is seen after the arrivals of several tech companies.
The mansion has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, an elevator, a massive walk-in closet, a secondary kitchen, a rooftop terrace, and a unique glass walkway connecting the main house to a two-story guesthouse. It was over 300 feet of Lake Washington’s waterfront, and was previously owned by the late Barney A. Ebsworth, who was an art collector and one of Build-A-Bear’s early investors.
Jeff Bezos Move To Miami
Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, moved to Miami about 18 months ago, to live closer to his parents and also to accommodate the shifting operations of his aerospace company, Blue Origin, to Cape Canaveral. Sanchez recently joined a Blue Origin spaceflight alongside celebrities like Katy Perry and Gayle King.
“I’ve lived in Seattle longer than anywhere else and have so many amazing memories here,” Bezos wrote on Instagram while announcing his move. “Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart.”
However, some media reports claimed that the move might also have been done due to Washington’s 7% capital gains tax, upheld by the state Supreme Court in 2023, which could have increased Bezos’ tax burden.
Bezos and Sanchez’s new house in Miami is referred to as the “Billionaire Bunker.” In 2024, Bezos purchased his latest Miami property which is a six-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion of over 12,000 square feet for $90 million.
