Politics: Congress stages nationwide protests over ED chargesheet against Sonia and Rahul in Herald case

Congress is holding nationwide protests for the second consecutive day over the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet filed against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. Party workers and leaders gathered in large numbers across major cities, staging demonstrations outside ED offices to voice their opposition.Congress alleges that the BJP-led central government is misusing investigative agencies to target the Gandhi family and divert public attention from real national issues such as inflation and unemployment. Senior Congress leaders have called the ED’s actions “politically motivated” and an attempt to malign the party's legacy. The BJP, on the other hand, has hit back, accusing the Congress of trying to shield corruption and of attempting to monopolize the legacy of India’s freedom fighters. The ruling party maintains that law must take its course and that no one is above the legal process. The Congress has also questioned the very basis of the money laundering allegations, arguing that no transaction or sale occurred in the case, making the charges baseless. The political atmosphere remains tense as the showdown over the National Herald case intensifies, with both parties exchanging sharp accusations.
