According to traditional beliefs, purchasing gold or silver on Akshaya Tritiya brings long-lasting happiness and wealth into one’s life. In 2025, the festival will be observed on April 30, with the Tritiya Tithi starting on April 29 at 5:31 PM and ending on April 30 at 2:31 PM.
What Can Be Done On Akshaya Tritiya:
Also known as Akha Teej, this sacred day coincides with Parshuram Jayanti, marking the birth of Lord Parshuram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Scriptures mention that both Satya Yuga and Treta Yuga began on this day. One of the rare occasions where no muhurat is required, Akshaya Tritiya is ideal for starting new ventures, conducting weddings, purchasing valuables, and performing religious activities.
It is believed that the merit earned from fasting, charity, and virtuous deeds on this day becomes "Akshaya", imperishable.

Akshaya Tritiya is traditionally observed by taking a dip in holy rivers. Sacred texts say that taking a ritual bath (snan) on this day washes away all sins and faults. Those unable to visit pilgrimage sites are encouraged to bathe at home by adding a few drops of Ganga water to their bath. This too is believed to offer the merit of a pilgrimage bath.
Following the bath, devotees are advised to take a vow of offering food and water to the needy, which is believed to be equivalent to performing great yajnas or intense penance.

On Akshaya Tritiya, it is highly meritorious to donate items such as watches, pitchers, fans, umbrellas, rice, pulses, ghee, sugar, fruits, clothes, sattu (roasted gram flour), cucumbers, melons, and money to temples or Brahmins. Given its “Abhujh Muhurat” (a time when all moments are auspicious), the day is also ideal for initiating the construction of a new home, performing Griha Pravesh (housewarming), or installing idols of deities.
Lord Vishnu’s Incarnations:
Akshaya Tritiya is also called the Chiranjivi Tithi; the immortal date, as it marks the birth of Lord Parshuram, considered to be immortal. Other incarnations of Lord Vishnu such as Nara-Narayana and Hayagriva are also believed to have manifested on this sacred day.
