No MPs, no leaders…, now Artificial Intelligence will make laws in this country, not US, UK, Europe, its Muslim country of…

Laws are no longer going to be made just through debates, bills, and voting. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a major step towards the future by announcing that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will now play a central role in creating, updating, and reviewing laws. The announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the Prime Minister of the UAE. This decision was officially approved in a UAE Cabinet meeting, where a new institution called the Regulatory Intelligence Office was introduced.

What will this new system do?

This AI-powered system is designed to connect all federal and local laws in the country. It will also link these laws to court rulings, government policies, and public service programs creating a smart, interconnected legal framework.

But that’s not all. This system will monitor the actual impact of each law in real time. It will study how a law is affecting society, the economy, and public life. Based on its analysis, the AI will suggest changes whether a law needs to be updated, removed, or if a new law is needed.

Faster, smarter, and more accurate lawmaking

Sheikh Mohammed says this move could make the lawmaking process up to 70 per cent faster. Tasks that used to take several months could now be completed in just weeks or even days and all this without any fatigue or human error.

Global knowledge, local values

The system will also stay connected with some of the world’s top research centers to learn and adopt the best global practices. But at the same time, it will ensure that any legal changes align with UAE’s local needs, traditions, and cultural values.

Sheikh Mohammed is calling this a “paradigm shift”, meaning a complete transformation in the way the country thinks about and creates its laws.

Part of a bigger strategy

This AI-driven legal system is just one part of UAE’s broader strategy to integrate Artificial Intelligence across every sector from government offices to courts and infrastructure. The country is aiming to lead the way in using smart technology to shape the future.

In short, the UAE is not just adapting to the future — it is building it.
