Bomb threat at court turns out to be hoax
Security was tightened at Dwarka Court here on Wednesday morning after it received a threatening email claiming that an RDX-based explosive device had been planted inside the Metropolitan Court, South West Delhi.
The court premises were promptly evacuated and a comprehensive search operation was launched.
According to the police, the alert was triggered around 10:45 am when a Head Constable informed a senior officer of the Dwarka Court Security about a suspicious email.
The email, received in the official mailbox of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Shreya Aggarwal at 3:11 am on April 16, came to light when the court resumed for the day and was accessed by her reader.
“The message contained a specific threat claiming that an RDX explosive had been ‘clandestinely planted’ within the court premises,” the police said.
Following the report, senior police officers, along with the bomb disposal squad (BDS), dog squad and local law enforcement officials, reached the spot. The entire court complex was evacuated and searched thoroughly, both manually and using advanced detection equipment.
“Nothing suspicious was found,” officials confirmed. The police said further investigation was underway to trace the origin of the threatening email.
