national Fire Service Week observed at Palampur varsity

As part of the National Fire Service Week being observed from April 14 to 20, a fire safety and disaster management awareness programme was held today at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSK HPKV), Palampur.

The event included a live demonstration of the fire-fighting system and practical training in emergency response measures. In his message, Vice Chancellor Prof Naveen Kumar emphasised the importance of fire safety in preventing hazards to human life, wildlife and the environment. He urged everyone to remain alert, especially during the dry summer months when fire risks are significantly higher.

Surinder Kumar, Fire Officer from Palampur Fire Station, addressed participants on the different classes of fires and the appropriate control methods. Leading Fireman Bhag Singh gave a hands-on demonstration on handling LPG cylinder fires and the correct use of fire extinguishers during emergencies.

The programme saw enthusiastic participation from around 70 staff members from all four constituent colleges of the university. Participants engaged in hands-on sessions to understand the functioning of fire control systems and emergency preparedness protocols.
