Strengthening work of roads begins at Sector 13 in Karnal

The much-awaited road strengthening work in Sector13 of the city was officially inaugurated on Wednesday by local MLA Jagmohan Anand and Mayor Renu Bala Gupta. As part of the initiative, six internal roads spanning a total length of 4.4 km will be strengthened at an estimated cost of Rs 1.33 crore. The project is scheduled to be completed within three months.

The Mayor also inaugurated the repair work of the rainwater pipeline by breaking a coconut, a traditional symbol of auspicious beginnings. This separate project, costing Rs 17.32 lakh, is expected to be completed within two months.

To ensure transparency, a detailed-information board has been installed at the project site. These boards provide complete information, including the contractor’s name, total expenditure and the officials looking at the project.

Speaking to the media, Anand emphasised that such initiatives promoted transparency and public accountability in development works.

“We are committed to maintaining high quality in all road repair and strengthening works. With the installation of information board regarding the project, any citizen can now be fully informed about the ongoing development projects. If there are any concerns about quality, the citizens can bring them directly to the attention of the Mayor or the officials concerned,” said Anand.

The MLA further assured that the development works would be carried out equally across all wards, respecting public sentiment and the principle of inclusive progress.

Gupta emphasised on transparency and said the Karnal Municipal Corporation was committed to working at a non-stop pace, similar to the state government’s model.

“With the start of the project in Sector13, we have taken another step towards transparent and efficient governance. The project boards offer complete details, empowering citizens to not only stay informed but also connect directly with the relevant contractor or the official if needed. This is a good beginning and will surely yield positive outcomes,” said Gupta.

Ward10 councillor Aashaya Kumar, XEN, KMC, Monika Sharma, JE Gaurav Kumar and prominent citizens of the ward were also present there.
