PGIMS Rohtak to recruit 175 senior residents across 56 disciplines
To bridge the gap in medical staffing, Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR) has announced the recruitment of 175 senior residents/tutors across 56 disciplines at PGIMS and Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences (PGIDS). Applications are invited up to April 25.
A university official said, “The highest number of vacancies —21 — are in the Department of anaesthesiology, followed by 17 in general surgery and seven in cardiology. Six posts each are vacant in emergency medicine, paediatric pulmonology and intensive care, and five each in cardiac surgery, neonatology, and obstetrics and gynaecology.”
Other departments such as general medicine, paediatrics (A&E), radiodiagnosis, forensic medicine, pharmacology, and immunohematology and blood transfusion also have four vacancies each.
This drive follows a recent round of recruitment in which 103 senior residents were appointed. However, many posts remained vacant due to various reasons, prompting the university to resume the hiring process.
Senior residents play a crucial role in medical education and patient care. “They are integral to the functioning of a medical college, contributing to patient treatment, academics, and research. Their responsibilities include clinical care, supervising junior residents, maintaining records, and coordinating duty schedules,” the official said.
Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of UHSR, said: “We are committed to providing prompt medical treatment and ensuring effective patient care at PGIMS and PGIDS. The recruitment of senior residents is a key step in this direction.”
