Cong holds protest against ED action on party leaders

On Wednesday, Congress workers held a protest in front of the city post office against the Central Government and the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action against senior Congress leaders. The protest was led by Kumari Selja, Member of Parliament from Sirsa, Congress National General Secretary, former Union Minister and in charge of Uttarakhand.

The protest was in response to ED’s action against former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Indian Overseas Congress president Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey.

While addressing the gathering, Kumari Selja said the BJP government was misusing ED for political revenge and targeting the Congress leaders out of hatred. She accused the government of working like a dictatorship by filing a chargesheet against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi unfairly.

She said, “This fight is not just about Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi. It’s a fight between truth and lies, dictatorship and democracy. It concerns every citizen, youth, poor people, small shopkeepers, workers and farmers. Rahul Gandhi is leading this fight and we will stand with him like a rock until we win.”

Selja added that the BJP wanted to silence Rahul Gandhi’s voice and was using negative tactics to do so. “In a democracy, everyone has the right to speak. But the BJP is trying to suppress people’s voices. This is the time to save our democracy,” she said. She also made it clear that the Congress would oppose this kind of authoritarian rule.

Many senior Congress leaders and supporters were present at the protest, including MLAs Shishpal Keharwala (Kalanwali), Bharat Singh Beniwal (Ellenabad) and Balwan Singh Daulatpuria (Fatehabad), along with party leaders like Sandeep Nehra, Veerbhan Mehta, Naveen Kedia, Rajesh Chadiwal, Krishna Phogat and others.
